The Police have issued a clarification regarding a fake letter that is circulating on social media.

According to the Police, a fraudulent letter with a fake Sri Lanka Police letterhead, dated August 20, 2025, and titled “Attn: The Alleged Victim,” is currently being circulated on social media.

The Police emphasize that this letter was not issued by the Sri Lanka Police and is a fake document circulated with the intention of misleading the public.

An investigation has been launched into this fake letter by the Computer Crimes Investigation Division. The Police also stated that they will take legal action against those who spread this false information.
