Proposal to appoint a truth-seeking commission is accepted
A group of LTTE sympathizers reportedly held a large protest yesterday (17) in front of the UN Human Rights Commission office in Geneva. In response, a European-based Sri Lankan organization called ‘Ariyakammattana’ has taken steps to express its opposition.
The chairman of the Ariyakammattana organization, Venerable K. Ariyamagga Thero, has reportedly requested that the UN appoint a truth-seeking commission to re-establish the ancient heritage of the Sinhala people in Sri Lanka.

According to the report, representatives of the organization have had their proposal accepted and have informed the Human Rights Commission about the necessary steps to form this commission. Furthermore, Venerable Ariyamagga is scheduled to address the UN Human Rights session tomorrow (19) to provide further details on the matter.
It is also reported that this group of L.T.T.E. sympathizers organized the massive protest, alleging that human rights violations occurred during the past war.
