It is reported that Inspector General of Police, Priyantha Weerasuriya, recently (on the 15th) departed the island to attend a police conference in China.

During his absence, Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police, Lalith Pathinayake, who is in charge of the Central Province and Police Administration Division, has been appointed as the acting Inspector General of Police.

Inspector General Priyantha Weerasuriya is scheduled to deliver a lecture at the conference in China and is expected to return to the island on the 20th after completing his visit.
