“Six individuals abandoned by human traffickers taken into Navy custody”
Six individuals suspected to have
been abandoned by human traffickers were taken into Sri Lanka Navy custody during
a special search operation conducted on the sandbank of the Mannar sea area on
the 13th.
The Navy stated that the human
traffickers had illegally brought these six individuals to the country by sea
from India.
The individuals, aged between 8
and 56, are residents of Vavuniya, Madhu, and Kokkaddichcholai.
It was also reported that the six
individuals were handed over to the Mannar Police for further legal action.
