In response to the bus accident that occurred on the Ella – Wellawaya road last night (04), the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) has positioned two helicopters for relief efforts.

An MI-17 helicopter has been stationed at the Diyatalawa Air Force Base, while a Bell-412 helicopter with a medical crew is ready at the Weerawila Air Force Base.

These aircraft are prepared to airlift critically injured individuals to Colombo or provide support for any necessary rescue operations.

The SLAF also dispatched a rescue team from their Regiment Special Force immediately after the accident occurred yesterday. Additionally, a Beechcraft aircraft was deployed for aerial observation.
