Postmaster General Ruwan Sathkumara has stated that postal employees who have been on strike for the fifth day will not be paid this month’s salary.

In a letter sent to the striking workers, the Postmaster General has informed them that if they want their monthly salary, they must immediately report back to work. The Postmaster General also mentioned that he has formally notified the striking trade unions in writing about this matter.

The Postmaster General said that the strike has so far caused a loss of 140 million rupees. He added that despite the situation, efforts are now underway to distribute the mailbags that have piled up at the Central Mail Exchange.
