India’s 79th National Independence Day is being celebrated today (15). On this day in 1947, India gained its independence from British colonial rule.
This year’s special state ceremony, held by the Indian government to mark the occasion, is scheduled to take place at the Red Fort in New Delhi with the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It is reported that during the ceremony, military officers who contributed to the “Sindoor” operation will be recognized. A number of individuals who participated in the operation are also scheduled to be added to the annual military honours list for their contributions.
