The Police have introduced a new WhatsApp number through which the public can directly contact the Inspector General of Police’s office.

Accordingly, the new WhatsApp number 071-8598888 has been operational since yesterday (13).

This WhatsApp number was introduced by Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya to allow the public to instantly report various problems and crimes they face. The public can use it to send a direct message, videos, and photos to the IGP. The Police have informed the public that this number cannot be used for phone calls.

Police officers can also use this WhatsApp number to report their problems and provide information.
