“Sri Lanka defeats Bangladesh to claim tournament victory”
The decisive third and final One Day International (ODI) cricket match between the touring Bangladesh team and the Sri Lankan team was held yesterday (08) at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
Sri Lanka secured an ODI series victory against Bangladesh after six years, winning the three-match series 2-1.
The Sri Lankan captain won the toss in this match and chose to bat first. Chasing a target of 286 runs, Bangladesh was restricted to just 186 runs after 39.4 overs, with all their batsmen out, thanks to the excellent performance of the Sri Lankan bowlers.
Kusal Mendis and Charith Asalanka strengthened the Sri Lankan innings, effectively controlling the Bangladeshi bowlers and building a 124-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
In this match, Charith Asalanka scored 58 runs, marking his 16th ODI half-century.
