The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board has organized special mobile service programs named “Govi Gammana” at the Agrarian Service Division level, centered in the Kalutara District. These programs aim to:
Educate farmers about the benefits of participating in insurance schemes offered by the Board, including crop insurance, pension schemes, and third-party insurance.
Identify and resolve issues faced by farmers who are currently enrolled in these schemes.
This specific mobile program will be held this month (30), from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, focusing on the Baduraliya Agrarian Service Division. Officials from the Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board’s head office and Kalutara District office, along with Development Officers from the Department of Agrarian Development and Agricultural Research and Production Assistant Officers from the Baduraliya Agrarian Service area, will participate.
““Govi Gatulu” Mobile Program to Address Farmer Issues”
A special focus will be given to addressing issues related to the old farmer pension scheme. Many farmers who contributed to this scheme face problems, and the program will prioritize collecting necessary documents and resolving issues for farmers who have completed 60 years of age to facilitate their monthly pension payments.
Similar programs have already been conducted in June in the Dodangoda, Matugama, Bulathsinhala, and Agalawatta Agrarian Service Divisions of the Kalutara District. In July 2025, in addition to the Baduraliya Agrarian Service Center, these programs are planned to be held at the Iththapana, Pelawatta, Padagoda, Halkandawila, and Walagedara Agrarian Service Centers, which are also located in the Kalutara District.
The primary objective of these mobile programs is to provide the maximum possible contribution from the Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board to manage farmers’ risks and ensure a prosperous life, in line with the new government policies. The Board also expects to implement these mobile programs district-wide in the future.
