Recently, Ceyline Holdings organized a commemorative event for the International Day of the Seafarer at the Ceyline Training Center in Bolgoda. The Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, Janitha Ruwan Kodithuwakku, attended as the chief guest. A large number of maritime industry professionals also participated in the event.

Deputy Minister Kodithuwakku, himself a naval engineer, shared his experiences with the attendees. He also informed the seafarers present about the measures the government has already taken and plans to take in the future to develop the maritime sector.

Government attention to develop the naval profession

Attendees were given the opportunity to raise their concerns, and the Deputy Minister, in responding to the issues raised, stated that as a seafarer himself, he understands their challenges and that collective efforts are underway to resolve them. The Deputy Minister further commented that plans are currently being implemented to enhance the recognition of the naval profession within Sri Lankan society.
