Ambassador Nimal Bandara of Sri Lanka to Israel has issued a special announcement detailing the steps Sri Lankan citizens, currently in Sri Lanka after arriving from Israel, should follow to extend their RE-ENTRY visas.

According to the announcement, the Embassy advises Sri Lankans to follow the steps below to extend their RE-ENTRY visas for re-entry into Israel:

Special announcement to Sri Lankans who have arrived  from Israel

  1. Submitting a Written Request to PIBA: A written request should be submitted to the PIBA (Population and Immigration Authority) to extend the RE-ENTRY visa period for two months, starting from the date the Iran-Israel conflict began. This is likely to apply not only to Sri Lankan citizens but also to citizens of other countries. This process may take some time.
  2. Facilitated Group Travel from Cairo to Eilat: For individuals currently outside Israel whose RE-ENTRY visas are about to expire or have expired and wish to return, the Embassy can facilitate their return by coordinating group travel. This involves flying to Cairo Airport in Egypt and then traveling by a rented bus from Cairo to Eilat. If you are interested in this option, you must form a group. The Embassy can assist with obtaining short-term Egyptian visas and arranging bus transportation for such groups. Those interested in this option should provide their name, passport number, and phone number to the Embassy as a group.
  3. Individual Travel Arrangements: Individuals who do not join a group must obtain their Egyptian visas independently and arrange their own transportation from Cairo to Eilat.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Israel emphasizes that all necessary expenses for obtaining visas, re-issuing air tickets, and transportation facilities must be borne by the individuals themselves. The Embassy’s role is solely to provide facilitation and coordination.
