Sri Lankan Ambassador to Israel

Based on the latest situation in Israel, Sri Lankan Ambassador Nimal Bandara states that Iran has launched several ballistic missile attacks on areas near Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Ambassador Bandara further elaborated:

“Tel Aviv International Airport and Israeli airspace remain closed. When missiles targeting Herzliya, a northern area of Tel Aviv where we reside, were destroyed by the Israeli Air Force and the Iron Dome air defense system, the walls shook, and house windows rattled. Several areas reported building and vehicle fires. Over 50 injuries were reported.

Israel’s latest situation in the face of Iranian ballistic missiles

No Sri Lankan nationals have been reported among the injured. The state of emergency declared by the Israeli Defense Forces remains in effect. Three Sri Lankans traveling from Sri Lanka to Israel are currently stranded at Dubai Airport. The Consulate General’s office in Dubai is coordinating arrangements for them. Similarly, the Sri Lankan Embassy in Abu Dhabi is handling the situation for five Sri Lankans stranded at Abu Dhabi Airport.

They have been provided with temporary stay visas and accommodation facilities. All Sri Lankans currently on holiday in Sri Lanka are advised to send a copy of their passport and a copy of their re-entry visa for Israel to the Embassy. This will enable us to assist them in extending their re-entry visa period.

Furthermore, Embassy officials are closely monitoring the situation, and those who require assistance due to the current circumstances can contact the Embassy officials.”
