Multi-agent discussion on unresolved public issues

A multi-agency discussion was held yesterday (12) at the Trincomalee District Secretariat, chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment, Arun Hemachandra. The meeting aimed to resolve the long-standing unresolved issues related to land ownership and resettlement in the Kuchchaveli division of Trincomalee.

Kuchchaveli is a complex area within the district, characterized by numerous entrenched and unresolved land ownership and resettlement problems, largely due to years of administrative delays.

Officials from key departments, including the District Secretary, Divisional Secretary, Department of Wildlife, Department of Archaeology, Urban Development Authority, Geological Survey and Mines Bureau, Lanka Mineral Sands Ltd, security forces, and the Police Department, gathered for this discussion.

As the Chairman of the District Coordinating Committee, Deputy Minister Arun Hemachandra instructed all relevant agencies to work closely and collaboratively to resolve these issues. Emphasis was placed on expeditiously formulating practical and sustainable solutions with the support of the respective ministries.
