The Railway Department announced today that the section of the railway line between Kandy and Peradeniya train stations, which had subsided, has been successfully repaired.

To assess the safety of the newly restored track, authorities ran the “Podi Menike” train, which departed from Colombo Fort at 5:55 Am this morning on the affected stretch. The train reportedly passed over the repaired section around 9:00 Am without any issues and continued its journey to Kandy smoothly.
