The 25th production by Dr. Arosha Fernando, Chairman of the Democratic Party and a veteran film, teledrama, and stage play producer, “Che: The Last Days of a Revolutionary,” was successfully staged recently at the Elphinstone Theatre in Maradana. Directed by the award-winning stage play director Buddhika Dammayantha, the premiere was attended by a host of distinguished guests.

“Che” on the Sri Lankan Stage

Key attendees included Professor Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, Cabinet Minister of Cultural and Religious Affairs; Renuka M. Weerakoon, Director General of the Board of Investment; and Dudley Sirisena, Chairman of the Araliya Group of Companies.

Addressing the audience, the Minister of Culture stated that he has been entrusted with the significant task of uplifting drama and art in Sri Lanka, and that necessary provisions and plans are already being implemented to achieve this. Professor Hiniduma Sunil Senewi also took the opportunity to commend Dr. Arosha Fernando’s invaluable contribution in enriching Sri Lanka with exceptional productions like “Che.”
