The recent heavy rains across the island have caused significant damage to various crop cultivations, including paddy fields.
In response, Pemasiri Jasinghe Arachchi, the Chairman of the Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board, has instructed the relevant officials to take necessary steps.
“Compensation to be Provided for Rain-Damaged Paddy and Other Crops”
Accordingly, the District Assistant Directors have been directed to promptly provide all information regarding the crop damage that has occurred. The relevant officials have been informed to report the current situation regarding the flood conditions and the damage caused to paddy cultivation as well as other cultivations. The Chairman further stated that the Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board will take action to conduct an accurate assessment of the crop damage in the future and provide compensation.
