The Meteorology Department has issued a red alert warning of strong winds and rough seas.

According to the Meteorology Department’s announcement, a red alert has been issued for the sea areas off the coast extending from Chilaw to Puttalam and Mannar through Kankasanthurai, and from Galle to Hambantota through Pottuvil.

The Meteorology Department advises the people in these areas to be more vigilant.

The naval and fishing communities are hereby informed not to venture into the high seas until further notice, and this alert will be in effect until 12:30 PM tomorrow (30)
