The Mahiyanganaya Police built and handed over a new house for a helpless family with children in Dambana on the last Vesak Full Moon Poya day (12).
A wattle and daub house where a mother and daughter lived after the father’s death had partially collapsed due to rain during the past rainy season, leaving them helpless. In this situation, with the intervention of the indigenous leader Uruwarige Wannila Aththo on behalf of this helpless family, a new house was built under the leadership of the Officer-in-Charge of the Mahiyanganaya Police. This house was handed over to the helpless family on the last Vesak Poya day by the indigenous leader and other invitees.

The Officer-in-Charge of the Mahiyanganaya Police, Police Inspector W.W.C.R. Wickramaratne, and the staff intervened in this meritorious deed. The value of this house, built and completed by the police, is over 5 lakhs.
The construction of the house was expedited under the full supervision and guidance of the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Badulla Division, Sujith Wedamulla, and the Senior Superintendent of Police of Badulla, Kandewatta. Indigenous leader Uruwarige Wannila Aththo, Assistant Superintendent of Police of Mahiyanganaya P.W.S.B. Palipana, Officer-in-Charge of the Mahiyanganaya Police, Police Inspector W.W.C.R. Wickramaratne, and other police officers were present for the opening of this house
