Sri Lanka at the United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial meeting – Berlin 2025

Sri Lanka is participating in the United Nations Peacekeeping Ministerial meeting taking place from 13–14 May 2025 in Berlin, Germany—a high-level forum that convenes global stakeholders committed to enhancing the effectiveness, safety, and impact of UN peacekeeping operations.

The Sri Lankan delegation is led by Arun Hemachandra, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment, reflecting the country’s continued commitment to global peace and its readiness to contribute meaningfully to the evolving demands of UN peace operations.

The delegation includes:  Major General Lanka Amarapala, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Corps of Engineers, representing the operational capabilities of Sri Lanka’s Tri-Forces; Brigadier Sumal Wickramasekara, Military Advisor to the Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka to the United Nations in New York, offering expertise in peacekeeping mandates, compliance, and accountability;

 Superintendent of Police Wimalaratne Rathnayake (STF), representing the elite Special Task Force under the Ministry of Public Security, with operational experience in complex and high-risk environments.

Sri Lanka’s presence at this forum serves as an important opportunity to showcase the professionalism and preparedness of its peacekeeping personnel, engage with international partners, and strengthen cooperation on future deployments, training standards, and global security frameworks.
