International Mother’s Day falls today (11). Accordingly, this day is celebrated worldwide to further commemorate the greatness of love. Anna Jarvis is known as the founder of Mother’s Day.

Her mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, was a well-known social activist and community organizer who tirelessly worked to improve health conditions for mothers and soldiers during the American Civil War.

Today is World Mother’s Day

After the death of Anna’s mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, in 1905, Anna wanted to create a day to honour her mother and express her gratitude.

Accordingly, Anna’s efforts were successful, and in 1914, the then American President Woodrow Wilson officially declared the second Sunday of May as Mother’s Day and also a holiday. Since then, World Mother’s Day is celebrated every year on the second Sunday of May around the world

I still love you, Mom…
