“A billion dollar aid package from the World Bank”
Issuing a statement, the World Bank Group stated that arrangements will be made to provide this aid package over three years, targeting sectors with high potential for jobs and investment such as energy, agriculture, tourism, and regional development.
According to the statement, the World Bank estimates that nearly one million youth will enter Sri Lanka’s labour force in the next decade, but only about 300,000 jobs are projected to be created during that time.
