The first rugby match between the Sri Lanka rugby team and the New Zealand Under-85kg rugby team is scheduled to begin today (04) at 4 PM at the Nittawela Stadium in Kandy.

The Sri Lankan team led by Nigel Ratwatte, defeated Malaysia 59-19 in the playoff match of the 2025 Asian Rugby Championship held in Colombo on the 19th.

This is the first time since 1955 that a New Zealand rugby team is playing in Sri Lanka, and Jared Percival is the captain of the New Zealand team.
