The Excise Department issued a special announcement yesterday regarding the closure of liquor stores island-wide for May Day.
The announcement stated that all retail liquor sales licensed premises must be closed today (1), which is International Workers’ Day, except for the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Authority approved hotel licenses (categories R.B. 07/08, Boutique Villa licenses – for resident tourist guests only) operating within the Divisional Secretariat divisions where May Day rallies are being held.

The Excise Department further informed in its announcement that all such retail liquor sales outlets must remain closed from the time they were closed yesterday (30) until the scheduled opening time on May 2nd.
