Two-year delay results in a loss of Rs. 400 million

Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation, Bimal Rathnayake, yesterday afternoon participated in an inspection regarding the halted construction of the flyover being built from Boy Scouts Avenue adjacent to the Kompannavidiya Police Station to Chittampalam A. Gardiner Mawatha.  

Acting Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya and other officials also attended the occasion. They stated that steps would be taken to expedite the removal of the police quarters, which was the cause of the delay.  

Complete the Kompannavidiya flyover as soon as possible

Minister Bimal Rathnayake stated that due to this delay, approximately Rs. 400 million has had to be paid to contractors as delay fees, and that a significant waste of Rs. 500,000 occurs for each passing day, so this issue must be resolved immediately. He instructed the relevant officials to ensure that the bridge is completed by the end of this year at any cost.
