The 1990 ambulance service was recently launched to facilitate local and foreign tourists visiting Sigiriya. The Sigiriya tourist area is managed through the Central Cultural Fund, which falls under the purview of the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs.

This service was launched with the intervention of the Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi, Deputy Minister Gamagedara Dissanayake, and the Matale District Secretary, among other responsible officials.
