Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, Janitha Ruwan Kodituwakku, conducted an inspection at Batticaloa International Airport  yesterday (05).

The number of flights significantly decreased with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, but is now showing some signs of recovery. The airport administration presented future development plans to the Deputy Minister for the currently loss-making airport. The Deputy Minister instructed officials to expedite development activities after conducting a proper feasibility study of these plans.

Subsequently, during a friendly discussion with local residents, the Deputy Minister instructed officials to promptly resolve issues related to the road bordering the airport, which had become a primary concern for them.
