In Bangkok yesterday, Arun Hemachandra, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment of Sri Lanka, met with Lyonpo D.N. Dhungyel, Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade of the Kingdom of Bhutan, for a cordial and constructive discussion on advancing Sri Lanka–Bhutan bilateral relations.

The meeting focused on strengthening cultural diplomacy, enhancing cooperation in tourism, expanding collaboration in the education sector, and identifying niche market opportunities that can benefit both nations.

Both parties also underscored the importance of BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectorial Technical and Economic Cooperation) as a dynamic regional platform to foster connectivity, economic growth, and people-to-people linkages across South and Southeast Asia.
