Myanmar’s Foreign Minister Than Swe expressed special thanks to Sri Lanka’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, Wijitha Herath. This was in response to the official message of condolence sent by the Sri Lankan government to the Myanmar government and people regarding the devastation caused by the earthquake in Myanmar. Than Swe conveyed his gratitude during a telephone conversation with Minister Wijitha Herath this morning (02).

Than Swe also expressed his appreciation to the Sri Lankan government and people for their keen interest in sending a team of doctors to provide emergency treatment to the earthquake-affected people, and for Sri Lanka’s offer to provide urgent relief and humanitarian assistance to Myanmar.
During the phone call, Minister Wijitha Herath reaffirmed to the Myanmar Foreign Minister that Sri Lanka, a long-standing friendly nation, is ready to provide any necessary assistance to help Myanmar recover quickly from the devastation caused by the earthquake.
