“Set of rules introduced for owners renting three-wheelers to foreigners”
The police have issued a statement indicating that there is an increasing trend of foreign nationals driving three-wheelers (tuk-tuks) while visiting Sri Lanka.
The police have observed that in recent times, three-wheelers driven by foreign nationals have been involved in fatal and serious accidents.
It has also been revealed to the police that these foreigners do not possess valid licenses to drive three-wheelers and lack proper training.
The police request vehicle rental companies and hotel owners to thoroughly verify the validity of driving licenses before renting vehicles, especially three-wheelers, to foreign nationals.
As a measure to prevent and control this situation, the police state that if a foreigner is found driving a three-wheeler without a valid license, the vehicle owner will be summoned, their statement will be recorded, and legal action will be taken against them in court.
