We will not permit acts of sabotage that undermine essential transport services
Deputy Minister of Transport, Dr. Prasanna Kumara Gunasena, states that all suspects involved in the assault on a bus driver on the Galle-Matara main road on last Monday (24) of the past month have been arrested by the police and are scheduled to be presented to court.
He further stated that strict legal action will be taken against all responsible parties, including the lorry driver and three-wheeler driver, who were involved in and supported this illegal activity.

He also mentioned that an investigation has been conducted into the head-on collision of two Sri Lanka Transport Board buses on last day (22). It has been revealed that the news circulating on social media claiming that the bus drivers were under the influence of drugs has not been confirmed. Reports indicate that excessive speed of the buses was the primary cause of the accident.
Accordingly, the Deputy Minister further stated that every necessary step will be taken to ensure road safety with the maximum intervention of the Ministry of Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation
