The Dutch government is prepared to return six artifacts taken from Sri Lanka during the Dutch colonial period, as stated by the Netherlands Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Bonnie Horbach.
Further discussions regarding this matter took place during a meeting yesterday (18) at the Ministry between the Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Hinidum Sunil Senevi, and Ambassador Bonnie Horbach.

The meeting also focused on strengthening the long-standing friendly relations between Sri Lanka and the Netherlands. Topics discussed included the donation of scanning equipment to the National Archives Department, the provision of scholarships for Sri Lankan students to study the historical relations between the two countries, and several other matters.
The discussion was attended by Cultural Affairs Advisor to the Netherlands Ambassador, Krishan Mendis, Assistant Secretary of the European and North American Region of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thivanka Athuraliya, Director General of the National Museum Department, Sanuja Kasturiarachchi, Additional Secretary (National Heritage), Sujeeva Palliyaguruge, and other officials.
