Under the chairmanship of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment, Arun Hemachandra, a special public day was held for the first time today at the Foreign Employment Bureau. A large number of people participated in the event and were given the opportunity to resolve their issues directly. For this purpose, along with the Deputy Minister, Foreign Employment Bureau Chairman Kosala Wickramasinghe and other officials from various departments of the Bureau also participated.
Speaking to the media, the Deputy Minister stated:
“By extending an open invitation to the public, we are directly addressing the problems that have arisen and seeking solutions. I am committed to building the institution for the advancement of the field, not as a reaction to a crisis.”

The Minister also highlighted that many intermediaries illegally collect money and mislead people with false promises. He noted that it is challenging to address irregularities due to the inability of such organizations to ensure registration with the Foreign Employment Bureau and the lack of public awareness in this regard.
During the event, the Deputy Minister also addressed questions from journalists regarding the Korean E8 visa. He stated:
“The Cabinet has approved the Korean E8 visa. Contrary to rumors, there will be no intermediary money transactions related to the visa agreement signed earlier. Arrangements will be made to send the first group of E8 visa holders to South Korea through government intervention, ensuring a very reasonable cost and a short processing time.”
