District Returning Officers summoned to Colombo

The Election Commission states that district returning officers and assistant election returning officers have been summoned to Colombo as they have begun their preliminary work following the calling for nominations for the local government elections.

A discussion regarding this is scheduled to be held on Saturday, and a final decision on the matter is expected to be made at the Election Commission meeting today (06th).

They also mention that the acceptance of postal vote applications for these local government elections will end at midnight on the 12th. The commission further emphasizes that the deadline for accepting postal vote applications will not be extended under any circumstances, and that the acceptance of nominations for these local government elections will begin on the 17th.
