“A contributory pension scheme will be introduced for those engaged in the tourism sector” – Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ruwan Chaminda Ranasinghe”
Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ruwan Chaminda Ranasinghe, stated that a contributory pension scheme for those engaged in the tourism sector is scheduled to be introduced this year.
Responding to a question raised by Samagi Jana Balawegaya Member of Parliament, Hesha Vithanage, in Parliament yesterday (05), the Deputy Minister also mentioned that steps will be taken to conduct a social welfare program for those involved in the tourism sector.
He further stated that 100 tourist attraction sites are currently being identified for the future of the tourism sector and that it is expected to allocate 10 million rupees for each attraction site to develop its basic facilities.
Deputy Minister Ruwan Chaminda Ranasinghe also added that the government has decided to build Rest Centres for tourists.
