Sri Lanka’s future will be bright,” says Dr. Peter Breuer, Senior Mission chief of the International Monetary Fund

Dr. Peter Breuer further stated that, in the future, Sri Lankan people will not have to leave the country, and that it is expected that those who left Sri Lanka during the recent crisis period will return in the future.

He further stated that when they first arrived in the country in 2022, people were queuing for fuel, gas, medicine, or any other essential items, and that economic activity was very slow at that time. However, Dr. Peter Breuer pointed out that the situation has now returned to normal.

He also stated that under the Extended Fund Facility, Sri Lanka’s reserves have increased significantly, and that it is impressive that about half of the program’s intended goals have already been achieved.
