Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, delivered a keynote address at the Innovation Island Summit 2025 in Colombo, highlighting the role of innovation and technology in driving Sri Lanka’s economic growth.

Minister Herath emphasized Sri Lanka’s vision for a digital economy, focusing on AI, block chain, smart technologies, and infrastructure development to bridge the urban-rural divide. He underscored the importance of foreign investment, intellectual property protection, and global partnerships, particularly in the blue economy, renewable energy, and smart agriculture.

Reaffirming Sri Lanka’s commitment to innovation-driven progress, he called for collaboration between public and private sectors to enhance economic resilience and global competitiveness.
