The Central Bank of Sri Lanka states that remittances sent to the country by foreign workers in January 2025 amounted to USD 573 million.This marks a significant increase of 17.5% compared to the remittances recorded in January 2024, which stood at USD 487.6 million.

Furthermore, the Central Bank reported that total remittances from foreign workers for the entire year of 2024 amounted to USD 6.57 billion, reflecting a 10.1% increase compared to the USD 5.96 billion received in 2023.
