A special meeting was recently held at the port premises between the Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation, Bimal Rathnayake, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Khalid Ameri.
During the meeting, the Ambassador expressed the UAE’s interest in investing in Sri Lanka’s port and aviation services. He also conveyed his agreement to consider investments in a City Terminal at the new Port City in Sri Lanka.

Furthermore, the Ambassador stated that they are ready to warmly welcome Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who is scheduled for an official visit to the UAE in mid-month.
Additionally, he mentioned that the invitation extended by Minister Bimal Rathnayake to the UAE Airlines company to operate at the Mattala Airport is under consideration.
