Specialist Dr. Vindhya Kumarapeli of the Association of Community Medicine Specialists states that HIV and sexually transmitted diseases are on the rise among the youth population in the country. She expressed these views at a recent media briefing held at the Sri Lanka Medical Association Auditorium in Wijerama, Colombo.

During the event, she highlighted that individuals aged 15 to 24 are at significant risk in this regard. As a result, not only sexually transmitted diseases but also unplanned pregnancies are increasing. She further stated that the primary cause of this situation is the use of social media.
