It has been reported that a foreign national and two foreign girls were caught in a current while swimming at Ahungalla beach yesterday(26) afternoon.
The individuals were rescued by Police Inspector Manoj Ariyaratne, Police Constable Sangeeth (19342), and Police Constable Dulanjaya (103992) attached to the Police Lifeguard Unit, who were on duty at the time.

However, the 54-year-old Ukrainian man, who was in critical condition, passed away after being admitted to Balapitiya Hospital.
The two girls who were rescued, aged 13 and 17, are also Ukrainian nationals.
The deceased man’s body has been placed at the Balapitiya Hospital mortuary, and the Ahungalla Police are conducting further investigations.
