The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) stated that it expects to provide 340,000 foreign employment opportunities to Sri Lankan citizens during this year.

This was announced by the Chairman of the SLBFE, Kosala Wickramasinghe, during an awareness program held today (23) for newly licensed foreign employment agents.

The Chairman further mentioned that 311,000 foreign job opportunities were provided in 2024, and plans have been made to increase this number by 12% this year to achieve the target. He also emphasized that it is essential to properly regulate and ensure that individuals are sent abroad for employment in a lawful and appropriate manner.

Additionally, he highlighted that reports have been received regarding fraudulent activities carried out by certain licensed foreign employment agencies. The Chairman assured that strict action will be taken against such individuals, irrespective of their status.
