The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) advises the public not to be deceived by text messages and phone calls claiming to offer money.

Senior Information Security Engineer Charuka Damunupola stated that they have received information about individuals engaging in fraudulent activities by making fake phone calls to extract money.

“These days, you may receive fraudulent messages on your mobile phone. These messages may claim that you have won prize money, offer various discounts, or promote opportunities like work-from-home jobs or overseas employment. Ensure that you do not share your personal information through such messages,” he emphasized.
