A decision regarding the “Nearest School is the Best School” project

Under the “Nearest School is the Best School” project, a review is expected to be conducted on schools that are partially completed, says Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

Dr. Amarasuriya made this statement today (7th) while addressing Parliament.

“We are currently reviewing the schools selected under this project. Many schools selected for the project are partially completed and have been left unfinished.

Therefore, we are reviewing all those schools and planning, according to our strategy, to ensure that every child has access to a primary school within a 3-kilometer radius.

We aim to consolidate such schools and develop fully-fledged secondary schools. Additionally, we intend to prioritize schools where 80%-90% of the work has already been completed.”
