“Namal Kumara, a social activist, was remanded”
According to police, the arrest was connected to an audio recording that was making the rounds on social media and purportedly disparages His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, the Archbishop of Colombo.
The Archdiocese of Colombo recently asked for a probe into the incident. Rev. Fr. Jude Krishantha, the Archdiocese’s Media Director, alleged that activist Namal Kumara was complicit in the Easter Sunday massacres and that Kumara is planning another incident at the request of a third party.According to Police Media Spokesman SSP Buddhika Manathunga, the arrest came after a thorough investigation into the incident, which was prompted by a complaint that Rev. Fr. Jude Krishantha had made to the CCD.
