A special statement was released by S.M.P. Sooriyabandara, regarding the roads and bridges damaged due to heavy rainfall and the solutions implemented for them

Due to the torrential rainfall experienced recently, extensive damage has been caused to many roads and bridges across the country. Notably, severe damage has occurred to roads in the Northern, North Central, and Eastern provinces, while moderate damage has been reported in the Uva and Central provinces as well.

Special statement issued by the Director General of the Road Development Authority,

Additionally, the Road Development Authority (RDA), along with the Disaster Management Centre, the tri-forces, police, and local residents, are actively working to clear road blockages caused by fallen trees and to address damages resulting from minor landslides.

At present, a section of the bridge at the 375/5 km post on the Colombo-Ratnapura-Wellawaya-Batticaloa road has partially collapsed due to flooding, which washed away one bank of the bridge. The RDA has temporarily repaired one lane of the road, and steps have been taken to construct a temporary bridge at the site.

Similarly, the 19/1 bridge on the Manampitiya-Aralaganwila (B-502) road has sustained damage, leading to a suspension of vehicular traffic. Under the instructions of Hon. Minister Bimal Rathnayake , a temporary iron bridge is being constructed as a replacement, and work on this has already commenced.
