Due to the prevailing adverse weather, the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination has been temporarily postponed for December 3, announced to the Examinations Department.
Amith Jayasundara, the Commissioner General of Examinations, stated during a special press briefing yesterday morning (28), “This decision was made in light of the ongoing weather-related disruptions.”
Furthermore, he said that the examination will resume on Wednesday, December 4.
Therefore, November 30, December 2, and December 3 will not be used for the A/L examinations.
“The 2024 A/L Exam will resume on December 4”
The ongoing 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination was temporarily suspended, as previously notified by the Examinations Department on November 26.
Because to the adverse weather, it was previously planned that the exams would not be held on November 27, 28, and 29.
The Exam Commissioner added that even though the weather was improving, the decision was made with the best interests of the impacted students in mind.
The exam will not be held from November 27 to December 3. For six days, there won’t be any exams. The next exam day is Wednesday, December 4. This day will be used for exams that are scheduled for December 4.
“The December 4th subjects will be conducted on that day.” These include of the morning’s Chemistry First Paper, the morning’s Science for Technology First Paper, the evening’s Political Science First Paper, and the Sinhala, Tamil, and English First Papers for Drama Theatre,” he said.

The general knowledge examination will be held on Saturday, December 7, the examination commissioner noted, and the new timetable will be printed in a different colour on that day.
