The post-election period will last for one week following results of the general election , according to the police.
The police have been on high alert across the country throughout this period, according to Police Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa, who clarified the situation.

“The post-election period has now commenced. For a week, no public gatherings of any kind, including rallies and meetings, are allowed. The police will continue to maintain security through mobile patrols throughout the island while being on high alert. He said, “Special security arrangements have been made for identified police divisions, and intelligence officers are also on duty.”
The Police Media Spokesman added that throughout the pre-election period, 581 individuals were arrested for violating election laws.
“No violent incidents were reported from any area. 18 of the 581 people arrested are candidates, and the remaining people are their supporters,” he added.
