Nihal Thalduwa, the deputy inspector general (DIG) and police spokesperson, stated yesterday that some 90,000 police and security personnel had been deployed in to guarantee security for Thursday’s (14)general election.
“Local Elections – 90,000 police and military personnel deployed countrywide ”
In order to ensure a free and fair election, DIG Thalduwa said that those personnel had been deployed starting on Tuesday.
