The list of 527 candidates from 27 recognised political parties and two independent groups running for National List seats in the 10th Parliament, which will be elected on Thursday, was published by the Election Commission (EC) yesterday.

The EC has officially revealed the names of the candidates put up by each political party and independent group in compliance with Article 99A of the Constitution and the Parliamentary Elections Act No. 01 of 1981.

The following parties have candidates on the National List:

Arunalu Janata Party,Ahila Ilankai Thamil Congress, Eelam People’s Democratic Party, United National Party, United National Alliance, United Democratic Alliance, United Democratic Voice, Janaragalaya Alliance, Tamil Tesiya Koottani, Janasetha Front, National People’s Power, National People’s Party, National Democratic Front, Second Generation Party, Deshapremi Jana Balawegaya, New Democratic Front, Nidahas Janata Front, Democratic United National Front, Democratic National Alliance, Democratic Party, Democratic Left Front, National Front for Good Governance, Liberal Democratic Party, Sri Lanka People’s Front, Socialist Party of Sri Lanka, Samagi Jana Balavegaya, and Sarvajana Balaya.

Two National List candidates have also been nominated by independent groups: one for the Anuradhapura district and one for the Gampaha district.
